JUSTICE YERVAND KHUNDKARYAN PARTICIPATED IN THE 19TH CONGRESS OF THE CONFERENCE OF EUROPEAN CONSTITUTIONAL COURTS
On May 21-24, 2024, at the invitation of Ms. Domnica Manole, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Moldova, Justice of the Constitutional Court Mr. Yervand Khundkaryan participated in the 19th Congress of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts held in Chisinau.
Ms. Maia Sandu, President of the Republic of Moldova welcomed the participants of the Congress. Ms. Sandu commended the holding of the 19th Congress of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts in the capital of Moldova, and wished the participants fruitful deliberations.
The Congress hosted more than 100 international participants, including presidents and judges of European Constitutional Courts, and high-level officials such as Ms. Siofra O'Leary, President of the European Court of Human Rights, Ms. Claire Bazy Malaurie, President of the Venice Commission, as well as representatives from the Court of Justice of the European Union, the Association of Francophone Constitutional Courts, the Union of Arab Constitutional Courts and Councils, the Conference of African Constitutional Jurisdictions, the Eurasian Association of Constitutional Courts, and the Conference of the Constitutional Jurisdictions of Portuguese Speaking Countries.
During the 19th Congress of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts, the presidency was transferred to Albania.
The Conference of European Constitutional Courts brings together representatives of 40 European constitutional or equivalent courts conducting the constitutional review, and represents one of the most important European platforms for multilateral cooperation between judicial bodies empowered with the constitutional review.
