PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT AND THE GERMAN AMBASSADOR DISCUSSED THE AGENDA OF ARMENIAN-GERMAN LEGAL PARTNERSHIP

On 11 November 2022, President of the Constitutional Court Arman Dilanyan hosted the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Armenia H.E. Mr. Viktor Richter. 

Arman Dilanyan emphasized the importance of Armenian-German bilateral relations, which have recently been dynamically developing at all levels. According to the President of the Constitutional Court, the Armenian-German partnership is anchored on the legal and value-system interests as well as on the similarities of constitutional models in place. In this respect, Arman Dilanyan attached importance to the reforms ongoing in Armenia with the support of the German Federal Government, including the comprehensive and persistent support provided to the consolidating of democracy, strengthening the rule of law, protection of human rights, fight against corruption and reforms of the judiciary.

In his turn, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Armenia thanked the President of the Constitutional Court for the steps undertaken to promote the Armenian-German judicial cooperation and commended the implementation of institutional reforms at the High Court. Victor Richter stated that democracy, the rule of law, and constitutionalism are the guarantees for ensuring security, stability, and development, and Germany is determined to provide assistance to the implementation of judiciary reforms in Armenia, including the institutional reforms of the Constitutional Court.

During the meeting, the interlocutors mutually stressed the importance of further strengthening of the legal dialogue between the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Constitutional Court of the Federal Republic of Germany and the organization of high-level reciprocal visits in the nearest future. The parties highly valued the activities of the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the German Foundation for international legal cooperation (IRZ) in the Republic of Armenia.
