SPECIAL AWARD OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT FOR THE BEST COVERAGE OF THE RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE OF ARTSAKH AND FORCIBLY DISPLACED PERSONS
On December 11, 2023, the President of the Constitutional Court Arman Dilanyan participated in the “Article 3. Journalists for Rights” Award Ceremony dedicated to the International Human Rights Day.
Welcoming the participants of the event, Arman Dilanyan emphasized that the role of free speech and responsible journalism is invaluable in the establishment of a democratic state. The President of the Court stressed the importance of the activities of conscientious and responsible journalists engaged in their profession, taking into account that along with the development of technologies, and in the context of fake information flows and information attacks, people sometimes find it difficult to distinguish between real and fake information, and in this regard, the journalists themselves carry immense pressure by filtering and providing reliable information.
According to the President of the Constitutional Court, journalists and the judiciary are natural allies both in terms of the protection of human rights, and in the assessment and protection of mutual activities. Arman Dilanyan noted that he highly appreciates the objective and constructive criticism of journalists, which allows to more clearly diagnose and address possible concerns.
Within the scope of the “Journalists for Rights” Annual Award Ceremony, the President of the High Court presented a souvenir and a certificate in the “Special Award” category to Artsakh journalist Marut Vanyan, who, especially in the days of the siege, covered for the international media the situation in Artsakh and the issues of rights violations by delivering quality journalism.
