THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC MR VAHAGN KHACHATURYAN HOSTED THE PRESIDENT OF THE VENICE COMMISSION MS CLAIRE BAZY MALAURIE
On 9 June 2022, the President of the Republic of Armenia Mr Vahagn Khachaturyan hosted the delegation led by the President of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) Ms Claire Bazy Malaurie, who had arrived to Armenia at the invitation of the President of the Constitutional Court Mr Arman Dilanyan.
While welcoming the delegation, the President of the Republic Mr Vahagn Khachaturyan emphasized that the Council of Europe has been one of the key partners of the Republic of Armenia since restoration of its independence. The President of the Republic commended with satisfaction the continuous support of the Council of Europe and the Venice Commission to the agenda of protection of human rights, prevention of corruption, implementation of reforms aimed at ensuring the independence of the judiciary and its effective functioning, as well as the strengthening democracy in Armenia.
In her turn, Ms Claire Bazy Malaurie expressed her gratitude for the warm reception, noting that the Republic of Armenia is a solid and reliable partner of the Council of Europe. The President of the Venice Commission reiterated the willingness to support the agenda aimed at the strengthening democracy in our country.
