WORKING VISIT OF THE DELEGATION OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT TO STRASBOURG

THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT MR ARMAN DILANYAN HAD A MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE EUROPEAN COURT OF HUMAN RIGHTS MR RÓBERT SPANÓ
On 23 June 2022, the program of the working visit of the President of the Constitutional Court Mr Arman Dilanyan to Strasbourg was concluded with a meeting with the President of the European Court of Human Rights Mr Róbert Spanó.
While conveying his gratitude for the opportunity of the meeting, President Dilanyan attached importance to the mission of the European Court of Human Rights in the protection of fundamental rights. Mr Dilanyan also emphasized the commitment of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia to strengthen the partnership with the ECHR.
Mr Róbert Spanó expressed gratitude to Mr Arman Dilanyan for paying a visit to the ECHR and for attending the solemn opening ceremony of the ECHR Judicial Year. The President of the ECHR attached importance to such meetings and interaction, as well as he introduced the ongoing activities aimed to the development of the dialogue and deepening of cooperation between the ECHR and the national courts of the CoE Member States.
The parties jointly attached importance to the strengthening of the partnership within the framework of the Superior Courts Network as an effective platform for the exchange of information, which currently enrolls more than 70 courts from 34 CoE Member States.
THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT HAD A MEETING WITH THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS MS DUNJA MIJATOVIĆ
On 23 June 2022, the President of the Constitutional Court Mr Arman Dilanyan, who was in Strasbourg on a working visit, held a meeting with the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Ms Dunja Mijatović.
Mr Arman Dilanyan conveyed his gratitude for the provided warm reception and attached a particular importance to the mission of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights in the protection of the rights of different groups of society in the European region.
Ms Dunja Mijatović, while expressing gratitude to the delegation of the Constitutional Court for paying the working visit to Strasbourg, noted that she constantly observes the developments in the fields of human rights and the rule of law in the Republic of Armenia. The Commissioner also welcomed the ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia, including the judiciary reforms.
While addressing the post-war situation in Artsakh, the President of the Constitutional Court stressed the urgency of the immediate release and return of all Armenian prisoners of war. President Dilanyan also attached a high importance to the role of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights with respect to the given issue.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the further intensification of cooperation between the Constitutional Court and the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe.
THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT MR ARMAN DILANYAN HAD A MEETING WITH THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE MS MARIJA PEJČINOVIĆ BURIĆ
On 22 June 2022, the President of the Constitutional Court Mr Arman Dilanyan, who was in Strasbourg on a working visit, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Ms Marija Pejčinović Burić.
The President of the Constitutional Court conveyed his gratitude to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe for the provided warm reception and, noting that he highly values the Council of Europe's consistent support for the ongoing judiciary reforms in the Republic of Armenia. Mr Arman Dilanyan stated that the Council of Europe is one of the primary partners of the Constitutional Court, and the established partnership is of a pivotal importance for the promotion of the rule of law and the further strengthening of public trust towards the judiciary.
Ms Marija Pejčinović Burić welcomed the visit of the President of the Constitutional Court to Strasbourg, noting that the Council of Europe highly appreciates the cooperation with Armenia and stands ready to support the ongoing democratic reforms in the Republic of Armenia.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the implementation of the Armenia/Council of Europe Action Plan for 2019-2022 and the further prospects of cooperation.
