TWO PROJECTS FOR THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM REFORM IN ARMENIA WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE EUROPEAN UNION AND COUNCIL OF EUROPE WERE SUMMED UP IN YEREVAN

The Vice-President of the Constitutional Court Vahe Grigoryan participated in the Projects’ Closing Conference - Extended Steering Committee Meeting of the European Union and Council of Europe, Partnership for Good Governance 2019-2022.

The Project “Support to the Judicial Reform - Enhancing the Independence and Professionalism of the Judiciary in Armenia” is aimed at further promoting judicial independence, the effectiveness of legal proceedings and access to justice in Armenia by providing legal support to the post constitution justice in the fields of justice, judiciary, and disciplinary frameworks, as well as by enhancing the application of mediation and arbitration in Armenia in accordance with Council of Europe standards and recommendations.

The Vice-President of the Constitutional Court Vahe Grigoryan expressed his gratitude to the responsible officials of the institutions of the European Council of Strasbourg and the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan for the creation and launching of the official website of the Constitutional Court aimed at the public representation of the Court, as well as for the support in organizing the Conference on "The Judiciary as a Guardian of Democracy" which was held on June 2022, in Yerevan. The Vice-President also noted that within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023-2026, the Council of Europe is considered as a key international partner of the long-term project on the Constitutional Court reforms launched due to the constitutional amendments of  June 22, 2020.

During the Conference, the efficiency of implementation of the projects, the possibilities of their promotion and further ways of cooperation were discussed.

The Conference was attended by the representatives of state authorities, international and civil society organizations, as well as other relevant beneficiary institutions involved in justice sector reforms.
