THE INTERNATIONAL HIGH-LEVEL CONFERENCE TITLED “RESPECT FOR THE DECISIONS OF CONSTITUTIONAL COURTS” WAS LAUNCHED IN YEREVAN
On November 14, 2024, the International High-level Conference titled “Respect for the Decisions of Constitutional Courts,” organized jointly with the European Commission for Democracy through Law (the Venice Commission), was launched in Yerevan, highlighting the essential role of constitutional court decisions in safeguarding the rule of law and protecting human rights at both national and international levels.
The Conference provides an opportunity for the justices of constitutional courts, liaison officers, members of the Venice Commission, and representatives of the Council of Europe to engage in dialogue and discuss how the respect for the decisions of the constitutional courts should be manifested by the public and different branches of power, and how constitutional courts can effectively bridge national legal systems with international human rights frameworks.
In the era of continuous development of human rights, the role of constitutional courts becomes indispensable in the aspect of interpretation and implementation of these rights at the domestic level.
A summary of the Conference activities will be presented further.
