MEETING WITH THE DELEGATION OF THE UN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
On July 24, 2019, Hrayr Tovmasyan, President of the Constitutional Court, hosted the representatives of the UNDP Technical Scoping Mission on Justice Sector Reforms: Jason Gluck, Policy Specialist, Political Dialogue and Constitutional Processes, UNDP, Ainura Bekkoenova, UNDP Human Rights and Rule of Law Specialist, Jan van Zil Smith, representative of the Bingham Center for the Rule of Law, Constantin Palikarsky, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer, Aida Arutyunova, Anti-Corruption Programme Manager, UNDP, and Marine Malkhasyan, Project Coordinator, Justice Program, UNDP.
The issues of judicial and legal reforms in the Republic of Armenia were touched upon during the meeting. Hrayr Tovmasyan presented the role of the Constitutional Court in the system of judicial power, the main functions of the Constitutional Court prescribed by the Constitution, and the practice of their implementation. The President of the Constitutional Court answered questions of the guests related to the discussed reforms in the judicial system and other issues.
