THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT STRENGTHENS THE COOPERATION WITH THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF JUDICIAL SYSTEM REFORMS IN ARMENIA

On April 6, 2023, the Vice-President of the Constitutional Court Vahe Grigoryan participated in the meeting of the Technical Project Committee of the Project “Support to the Justice Reform in Armenia.” The Project is implemented by the Council of Europe and aims to support the Armenian authorities in implementing justice reform in line with 2022-2026 Strategy for Judicial and Legal Reforms of the Republic of Armenia.

During the meeting, Vice-President V. Grigoryan emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Constitutional Court and the relevant institutions of the Council of Europe, and reiterated the willingness of the Constitutional Court in the effective implementation of constitutional justice reforms, noting that he is hopeful for the effectiveness of the cooperation between Armenia and the Council of Europe in the field of constitutional justice, as mentioned in the 2023-2026 Action Plan. Deputy Head of Co-operation Programmes Division Lilit Daneghian extended special gratitude to the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Judicial Council, the Cassation Court, and other State institutions for their cooperation.

The Project “Support to the Justice Reform in Armenia” started on March 1, 2023, and aims to provide support to the national authorities to further advance the reform of the judicial system by strengthening its independence, accountability and professionalism, and to the criminal justice stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of the new criminal justice legislation in line with European human rights standards.
