JOINT WORKSHOP OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA AND HUMAN RIGHTS DEFENDER WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE “CONSTITUTIONAL JUSTICE PLATFORM”
On November 3, 2023, the staff of the Constitutional Court and the staff of the Human Rights Defender held a workshop within the framework of the "Constitutional Justice Platform" implemented by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia and the USAID/Armenia Justice Sector Support Project.
The initiative aims to contribute to the formation of a unified legal practice among state institutions, to improve access to constitutional justice, as well as to better comprehend the democracy, human rights, equality and the rule of law in Armenia.
President of the Constitutional Court Arman Dilanyan, Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan, and Chief of Party of the USAID/Armenia Justice Sector Support Project Marc Lassman delivered opening remarks at the event.
Welcoming the participants of the workshop, President of the Constitutional Court Arman Dilanyan emphasized the importance of such workshops in terms of cooperation and exchange of experience between state agencies and other domestic actors, which will contribute to overcoming the common challenges of legal practice in Armenia.
Two thematic sessions were held during the workshop, namely "Human Rights Defender as an entity entitled to apply to the Constitutional Court: features and practical issues", and "Requirements for the applications to be submitted to the Constitutional Court by the Human Rights Defender, and application admissibility criteria". The sessions were chaired by Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan, and Justice of the Constitutional Court Edgar Shatiryan.
