PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT PARTICIPATED IN THE STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE PROJECT OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE
On 29 November 2022, the President of the Constitutional Court Arman Dilanyan participated in the Steering Committee meeting of the Project on “Support to the judicial reform – enhancing the independence and professionalism of the judiciary in Armenia”, which was convened by the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan.
In his welcoming remarks, Arman Dilanyan noted that in the last two years, a qualitatively new, comprehensive and effective dialogue has been formed between the Constitutional Court and the Council of Europe, which is exemplary and landmark by its nature. The President of the Constitutional Court extended thankfulness to the European counterparts for the provided support to the justice system of Armenia within the framework of the 2019-2022 Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia. While referring to the institutional reforms ongoing at the Constitutional Court, Arman Dilanyan expressed hope that the projects jointly to be implemented by the Constitutional Court and the Council of Europe would have major importance in guaranteeing the independence of the judiciary, ensuring the irreversibility of democracy, strengthening the rule of law and reforming state agencies in Armenia.
The opening ceremony of the Steering Committee meeting was attended by the Acting Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Martina Schmidt, Deputy Head of Cooperation Programmes Division on Justice and Human Rights of the Council of Europe Lilit Daneghyan, Head of Cooperation section at the EU Delegation to Armenia Frank Hess, who also delivered welcoming remarks.
