PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT HOSTED THE DELEGATION OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE
On 19 September 2022, President of the Constitutional Court Arman Dilanyan hosted the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Martina Schmidt and the Deputy Head of Co-operation Programmes Division at the Department for the Implementation of Human Rights, Justice and Legal Co-operation Standards of the Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law at the Council of Europe Lilit Daneghyan.
Welcoming the guests, Arman Dilanyan emphasized the importance of the Armenia/Council of Europe Action Plan for 2019-2022, and expressed his gratitude to the Council of Europe for the significant support provided to the Armenian judiciary. In their turn, the representatives of the Council of Europe reiterated the willingness of the organization to advance the cooperation with the High Court in the areas of protection of the rule of law, democratic values and fundamental freedoms.
Referring to the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia on 13 September 2022, President of the Constitutional Court Arman Dilanyan emphasized the unacceptability of the statements equating the sides and the importance of clear, unequivocal and targeted condemnation of Azerbaijan's aggression by the international community, including the Council of Europe and its professionalized agencies.
During the meeting, the interlocutors also attached importance to the consistent development of the strategic dialogue between the Constitutional Court and the Council of Europe in all directions of mutual interest.
